Percy Burnley was born in Little Rock,
Arkansas. He is a graduate of Manual Arts
High School in Los Angeles. He received
his Associate of Arts Decree in General
Education from Los Angeles Trade Tech
College in Los Angeles. He attended Long
Beach City College and Los Angeles Bible
College.

Percy was baptized July 6, 1960 by Bro. Odra Dyson under the teachings of Bro.
Carl C. Baccus and Bro. R.N. Hogan. He is one of the pioneer members of the
103rd Street Church of Christ, now known as Southside Church of Christ.
Percy faithfully served and worshiped at Southside Church of Christ. In the early
days of the radio program he was one of the broadcast announcers. Over the
years he served as an usher, was on the security staff and was a member of the
choral group.
Percy was ordained a Deacon in 1983. He is the Minister of the Bus and
Transportation Ministry, and serves on the treasury committee. He works closely
with the leadership in various ministries as well as helping maintain the building
and grounds.
He married Flossie Davis in 1960. They have two children, a daughter, Melanie,
and a son, Terry and his wife Treva and their three children. Melanie is a
Management Analyst with the L.A. Department of Water and Power and Terry is a
L.A. County Firefighter Inspector.
Percy served four years in the United States Navy and received an Honorable
Discharge.
Percy retired from Boeing Aerospace in 1998 after thirty-two years of service.
While there, he received many training certificates including a Certificate of
Achievement for successfully completing the STEP Member Training in Problem
Solving Techniques. He was an auxiliary fireman.
Percy is a real estate owner-investor and manager. He enjoys collecting and
restoring antique and classic cars. Percy restored a 1931 Model “A” Ford
Roadster (convertible) and later, a 1930 Model “A” Ford Roadster for his wife,
Flossie, which they have owned for over twenty-five years.
He is also an avid fan of nature programs and historical documentaries.
